I really enjoy covering music festivals and Aspen’s Fall festival has a unique vibe. The official title is the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival (they really need a new name) and shouldn’t be confused with their June festival which actually features jazz music. You see, the Fall festival features a line-up of rock, hip-hop and alternative acts that, depending on your tastes, can be quite fun. The 2009 line-up featured Michael Franti, The Black Eyed Peas, Elvis Costello, the Doobie Brothers and the Allman Brothers Band; how’s that for a mix? It’s two days and three nights of music in the Snowmass Town Park, surrounded by beautiful mountains and not too many people. One of the best parts is they run shuttle buses non-stop to and from Snowmass Village so you can come and go from your lodging without having to worry about parking or whether you should be “behind the wheel.” Worth checking out!
